Interview with Malgorzata Manka-Szulik, president of Zabrze
Zabrze, the city clouded mainly with heavy industry, becomes a symbol of post-industrial tourism. Is the investment in revitalization of the Main Key Hereditary Adit will be a showcase of Zabrze in Poland?
- I think that not only showcase Zabrze, I am confident that it will showcase Silesia in the world. In fact, already mine "Guido" has done a lot of good when it comes to promotion of Silesia. The "Guido" also hosted the most beautiful women in the world - the finalists of Miss Intercontinental. All the guests came down into the earth with the same trembling heart, and traveled with the same enthusiasm. I hope it will stay in the case of Key Hereditary Adit. The project will be complementary to the Silesian Industrial Monuments Route, a European gem. In Zabrze tunnel will complete complex of mines, "Guido" museum "Queen Louise" and the shaft "Matt" and the underground tour barge trip will certainly be a trip you will need to be done.
What is currently happening around this project?

- In our town, long talked about the need for this project. At the beginning of my tenure, many officials in Warsaw żartowało that we have learned from the project bin. In two years we had to do work that in other cities took six or even 10 years. But if this project is not carried out, soon we would have to pay huge fees for polluting the environment. Now, after an exchange of underground installations, under construction and improvement of roads and sidewalks for the length of 200 km, the target for the amount of 140 mln zł.
Which measures financed by the project?
- After completing the documentation on the material scope of the decision of the European Union found that the project will cost 426 million not zł and about 900 mln zł. - DTS is a story with a long gray beard: 50 years of history and 20 years to build. This project together with other major projects is such a challenge, as the simultaneous repair of the house facades and interiors. And we do not have much choice, because either we use now with the funding available, or we will have to abandon the project. We are fortunate that we saw the great artists and thus, as scheduled, in 2011, built out of two sections of the DTS should be ready. Let's say it openly that bear the consequences of years of neglect, because in Zabrze road investment was not too much. They talk about me that still run. The dynamic behavior is essential, because when many of our neighbors went moderate pace, allowing Zabrze the release step itself. Now we have to catch them.

In 2011, we have a chance to host in Zabrze, 38 ministers of tourism from all over Europe who will discuss post-industrial tourism. We can also boast Silesian Center for Heart Disease and Cardiac Surgery Development Foundation. Miami has many undeniable advantages. They must be only know how to show.
